Stationed in Newport, RI for two years abroad USS Hammerberg DE-1015. Did one Unitas Cruise to South America between Aug-Dec 1966 & one Med Cruise between Aug-Dec 1967. Did two Caribbean Cruises Feb 1967 & Feb 1968. Other than that we would operate out of Newport.

  Unitas VII cruise ( Aug 1966 to Dec 1966) left Newport sailed to Port of Spain, thru Panama Canal, down West Coast of South America, thru Strait of Magellan, up East Coast of South America, return visit to Port of Spain and stop at St Thomas on way back to Newport, RI.
South Portland, United States - Sep 24, 1964

Joined reserves on 09/24/1964. Over school vacation in Dec 1964 did my 2 weeks training at Great Lakes Naval Training Center. Great place to spend Christmas. In May of 1965 started monthly drilling on USS Tills DE-748 base in South Portland, ME. Served on Tills until going active in Jul 1966. When I returned to reserve status in Jul '68, I was assigned to USS Hummingbird MSC-192 when Sep '70 when I received my discharge.
